With filming for The Last Sunrise having wrapped up just a month ago, Maia Reficco surprises us with a brand new shoot in New Orleans, Louisiana.
An independent film is a film production made outside of the major Hollywood studios. Often with smaller budgets, these films focus on creative freedom and seek recognition through film festivals to find their audience and distribution, meaning that they have nothing to promote themselves with, it is thanks to film festivals that they will be showcased. Maia Reficco's participation in projects such as Kill Me Now demonstrates her desire to explore a variety of roles and gain critical visibility in the world of cinema and her future projects.
Beginning
Since October 30, 2025, Maia Reficco has been in New Orleans. Starting with a photo she posted in her car, we then saw her again in another photo where she is in a New Orleans hotel, posing in the lobby of the Roami Factors Row hotel. Finally, the big announcement, a photo and two Tik Toks of her on set.
A film currently being shot in Louisiana
A local film production website in New Orleans states that a film has been shooting since November 4, 2025, but it has never been publicly announced by the production. The point is that before Maia's videos on the set, there was a listening party with fans and artists to celebrate the upcoming release of the original Broadway cast album featuring Maia, “Deathless.” When this party was announced on producer Zack Zadek's Instagram account, Maia commented: “I can't believe I'm missing this, have fun.” Initially, Maia was in New York, so we thought she would attend the party, as it was a big deal for her to be literally in the original cast of the play, but she couldn't because she had something very important to do for her career, and then the famous videos arrived.
Filming dates & Location
According to the local New Orleans website, filming will take place from November 4 to December 5, 2025. Filming will take place in Chalmatte, Louisiana.

The film is an independent thriller directed by Ryan Lacen, supported by a large production team including Lynn K. Gilman Williams, one of the people Maia follows, Jeff Bowler, Kevin Greene, David Lipper, and David R. Williams.

Release dates
Since it has not been officially announced and is an independent film, it cannot have a release date. This is typical for independent films that are looking for a distributor or a festival premiere. This is the case for producer Jeff Bowler, who produced an independent psychological thriller, “The Fanatic,” in 2019, which then had its world premiere at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal in 2019. Following this screening, it was purchased by production company Quiver Distribution, which subsequently had a limited theatrical release and is now available for streaming.
Casting call
In addition, there is a New Orleans account specializing in casting calls, which has been looking for people to appear in this film since at least October. The obvious point is that they are currently looking for a Spanish-speaking woman as an understudy, who would therefore surely be Maia Reficco's understudy.

Filming for Kill Me Now officially wrapped on December 4. The entire production team shared photos from the shoot and, most importantly, some new information : Kill Me Now will now be called "At The Center".
