One Fast Move... What is this long-awaited film?

Let’s start from the beginning

Just after the announcement of the adaptation of the book A Cuban Girl’s To Tea and Tommorw written by Laura Taylor Namey with Kit Connor and Maia Reficco, on August 11, 2023 the actress announced on her instagram account the shooting of a new film called One Fast Move directed by Kelly Blatz and producted by Bill Bindley, Mike Karz, Matt Luber and Lena Roklin, whose actors who were announced would be Maia Reficco ( Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin ), Edward James Olmos, ( Mayans MC ), Austin North ( Outer Banks ) and Adam Thomas Ziemba ( Max Quinn on Judgement ) who will play Leo the son of the characters of Maia Reficco and K.J Apa, in production in Georgia, and is fully funded by Gulfstream Pictures in association with Luber Roklin Entertainment, One Fast Move is Gulfstream’s second project with Luber Roklin, after the romantic comedy directed by Josephine Langford The Other Zoey, with Drew Starkey, Archie Renaux, Andie MacDowell, Heather Graham and Patrick Fabian.

Maia Reficco her beginnings

About Maia Reficco she is known as the series Kally’s Mashup by Nickeleaon then the level to go up when she was accepted in 2021 to date the role of Noa Olivar in the reboot of the series Pretty Little Liars under the name of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin written and directed by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (director of Riverdale) and Lindsay Calhoon Bring which is currently available on HBO Max and Amazon Prime Video which was renewed for a Season 2 Pretty Little Liars: Summer School and will be released very soon in 2024.

She then continued in the original Netflix movie Do Revenge directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson to play the character of Montana Ruiz, alongside Camila Mendes (Drea Torres), Maya Hawke (Eleanor Levetan), Jonathan Daviss (Elliot), Alisha Boe (Tara), Rish Shah (Russ Lee), Paris Berelc (Meghan) and Austin Abrams (Max Broussard, Drea’s ex-boyfriend)

The very first to join the cast of One Fast Move is K.J Apa, known for his lead role as Archie Andrews in the CW teen television series Riverdale on Netflix. In addition to The Last Summer, he has appeared in films such as I Still Believe, The Hate U Give, A Dog’s Purpose and Songbird, among others.

"Kelly’s captivating storyline takes you directly into the dangerous and exciting world of Supersport motorcycle racing" said Karz and Bindley of Gulfstream. "We are absolutely thrilled to be working again with KJ and Kelly to tell this story to all passionate racing fans around the world."

2 months before the announcement of the rest of the cast who joined the film One Fast Move, Eric Dane was accepted to play alongside K.J Apa, who is a famous actor who has notably played in the famous HBO series Max Euphoria playing Cal Jacobs, the father of Nate by Jacob Elordi, but he is best known for his role of Dr Mark Sloan in the long medical drama series of ABC Grey’s Anatomy

A disgraced soldier (Apa) is looking for his former (Dane) to help him pursue his dream of riding Supersport bikes. During his training, he meets a aspiring singer (Maia) from a small town who begins to break down the walls built by the absence of his father.

Given that filming had been completed since 2022, the film One Fast Move should have been released in 2023, but unfortunately have never had more information than everything I mentioned in the post, it may be that the production of the film had to pause because of the SAG-AFTRA strikes, but that it was then resumed

However on April 29, 2024 Amazon Prime announced on their blog the films that would be released this summer, and what a surprise when we saw that One Fast Move was there!

The film should last 1 hour and 46 minutes and it would be available worldwide.

June 2024 Update

On June 27, 2024 Entertainment Weekly confirmed on their instagram account that One Fast Move will be released on August 8, 2024 on Prime Video!

It will therefore be expected that the teaser will be released in late June or since July then a trailer for late July 2024.
