How did Maia’s career start?
"It must be family: Reficco grew up singing, playing and gymnastics, and loving all three. She felt destined to perform, to create. Her first acting role, however, did not go as planned. She landed a role in a Nintendo ad for a Mario Kart game at the age of 11. "
How was Maia’s shooting with Kit Connor?
"Working with Kit was such a dream, he’s so adorable, one of the brightest actors," says Reficco. We got along so well from the start. He became one of my favorite people. I was so excited to meet him because I loved [Heartstopper] before, but after working with him and learning from him, we became each other’s biggest cheerleaders. We worked very hard, but the more we got to know each other and the more time we spent together, it was more and more fun.”

She cried the first time she read the Argentinian parts that the writers added to the movie’s script, which was shot last summer.
